We’re located just off Bokum Road, minutes from the charming downtowns of Essex and Old Saybrook. We’re a short stroll to the market and shops of Hokum Center and The Preserve — with 1,000 acres of woods and walking trails — is in our backyard.

Where the best in culture meets the best in nature.

A two-hour drive from Boston and New York, Essex is also about 30 minutes from such culturally and historically rich cities as New Haven, Hartford, Middletown and New London. In these cities, home to Yale University, Trinity College, Wesleyan University and Connecticut College respectively, you will find world-class theater, art and museums.

One of the reasons the Connecticut River Valley area became — and continues to be — so attractive to artists is because of its pristine natural beauty. In fact, The Nature Conservancy has designated the Tidelands of the Connecticut River one of the world’s Last Great Places. Thousands of acres of land have been preserved in the area through the efforts of the local land trusts and The Nature Conservancy, making it a destination of choice for naturalists and bird watchers as well as artists.
