About the Essex Meadows Scholarship Foundation

Essex Meadows Scholarship Foundation

Essex Meadows Scholarship Foundation, Inc., is a tax-exempt organization founded by the residents of Essex Meadows to provide annual scholarship assistance to employees and their children. Since its inception in 1993, the foundation has awarded more than two and a quarter millions dollars in over 800 grants to employees and their dependents.

The foundation’s income is derived primarily from voluntary donations from the residents of Essex Meadows and memorial gifts from their families and friends. Additionally, the Leadership Group of residents supports the scholarship program with gifts of $1.00 or more. Another group, the Sustaining Members, contributes $500 to $1,000 each year. However, high resident participation in this program remains the goal, and the foundation encourages and appreciates year-round contributions of any size as well as memorial gifts. Contributions from Essex Meadows residents are solicited annually each May. The fund is an approved 501(c)(3), so all contributions are tax deductible.

Applicants must be high school graduates pursuing an undergraduate four-year degree, two-year degree, or licensed vocational training, and are required to complete an application, which is carefully reviewed by the foundation trustees. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and financial need, and the awards are sent directly to colleges and institutions.
